CUSAT FABLAB

CUSAT is one of the select institutions to host a FABLAB inhouse set up with the support of Kerala Startup Mission. A Fabrication Laboratory (FabLab) is a technical prototyping platform for innovation and invention which aims at providing stimulus for local entrepreneurship and serves as a platform for learning and innovation. Fab Labs provide access to the environment, the skills, the materials and the advanced technology to allow anyone anywhere to make (almost) anything.

The Fablab will provide the students and startups easy access to digital fabrication technologies. The main aim is to foster the culture of making and entrepreneurship among our stakeholders.

Fablab mainly comprises of Top Notch 3D Printers, CNC Milling Machine with scan unit, Vinyl Cutter, Dexter boards etc. Also An Electronic workbench is available consisting of digital oscilloscope, function generator, electronic microscope, soldering station etc. with their components.

As part of its academic and skill development initiatives, CUSAT FabLab has been successfully conducting internship and hands-on training programs every year for students from various institutions. Till now, more than 500 students have successfully completed internship programs at the FabLab, gaining practical exposure in digital fabrication, rapid prototyping, electronics, PCB design, 3D printing, and related technologies.

These facilities provide students and innovators with a complete ecosystem for prototyping, experimentation, and product development.
